Hi All:

I am an assistant dba and learning admin right now.  oracle version 9.2.0.0.0.  o/s windows nt server.

I am having a peculiar problem ora-03113.  I am getting this from last three days.  On first day it was only on one client now its growing.  Now no body from the client sqlplus is able to connect where as the application is able to connect.  I searched the orafaq and the web and found some thing like there might be some problem with lnsr.  it is not able to allocate memory as such.  so with their suggestion i switched the trace for listner by putting

trace_level_listner=10 and .....

I am attching the trace file can somebody please see the trace and suggest me what to do further to resolve this problem.

I am under pressure.  I will be thankful for all your efforts.

ORA-3113 is such a generic error. do you have access to Metalink? If yes, refer to Doc Id :1003596.6 that discusses about this for Windows platform and also 1020463.6 to diagnose.

Dont forget to check your alert.log and trace files for more info. Did anything change recently (ie Oracle version,tnsnames,listener.ora,sqlnet.ora etc ) ?

Hi Thiru:

Thanks a lot for your response. But I dont know about metalink...and when I further investigated I found out that its only for ocp's. I am not an ocp.

Ok regarding the problem I have not modified any of the file you are asking about.

The problem started only 4 days back. On first day it came on one client then it spread across. I am able to login from the server locally. but no client connections. I searched in alert as well trace file but no info regarding this.

Then as i told in the previous mail from orafaq i found the reason that for my problem the reason is listner only like it is not able to give memory to user processes.(I am assuming :-).

I am able to ping from client. I restarted the server, restarted the listner and all basic things...

Kindly help

I've encountered this error many times especially when I install oracle on XP. So I install Oracle Client first with Administrator option. Then upon successfull install I then reinstall with Enterprise Edition options.
