Hi,

I work in a environment that is extremely sensitive and I have some DBA's asking if there is a way to ensure that when a valid unix group dba user tries "connect / as sysdba" that a password needs to be given rather than just getting into the DB.

Here are some particulars that are porbably not needed but :

Solaris 8, Oracle 9i (9.0.2.x), sun equipment

Thnaks in advance for any helpful hints.

A valid dba member who has Unix access to the database server will and should be able to do that. No way to change that behaviour. You will need to control OS security on the Server to the highest standards possible, to avoid anyone exercising this option.
You can change this group 'dba' to something else ,but you'll end up with the same problem.
