Questions to Import DB in 8.1.7.4 [message #56938]

Hi All,
we've to grade up one of our databases for test purposes on a second machine. The original DB is 8.1.7.0 and the destination will be 8.1.7.4. I install the 8.1.7.0 and the Patch to 8.1.7.4 on our destination, then we'll take an export of the target-database.
My Problem is that we have to change the directories on the destination, so I guess that I have to change some entries in the export file and re-generate the controlfiles.
Am I wrong, or did I forget something to do before/during import.
We suggest to use export/import because with rman we have to do some more extra-work (in mind of out backup/recovery-manager) as we've with exp/imp.

Any suggestions/helps welcome

I hope I got all path's because we've 6 different path in in original an only 3 in test

You are planning to do Export/Import and what directories are you talking about ?

This comes into the picture if you are cloning the database.

Import is an import. What is important is how the new DB is set and what the default TS is.

Am I missing something here ?

Uwe,
I dont understand ur requiremtnt or I must be missing something big.
export / import is does not look into control files etc.
export the source
install the second database.
CREATE the similiar tablespaces and users
import to target.
