I have recently installed Oracle 9i Personal Edition and when I try to connect to the database through a web page I get a Login Window for XDB pop up. Could someone explain what this is and how I turn it off?
Many thanks
Richard.

I've found that Oracle 9i (9.2) uses port 8080 by default for it's XML Database. The easiest fix for this was to simply change the port to 8081 from Oracle Enterprise Manager console -- it shows up under:
/Network/Databases/{your db}/XML Database/Configuration
Hit apply and it immediately stops listening on port 8080. Confirmed with "netstat -a" or "netstat -a | grep 8080" if you have cygwin installed or are on UNIX/Linux. This change was hot -- ie. no bounced instances or services required.
