I have noticed that the u0801050.sql upgrade file
which is supposed to be used in a 9.0.1 upgrade
is missing from the 9.2.0.1.0 install.

Further investigation showed that the u<ver>.sql files all call respective c<ver>.sql, i<ver>.sql and a<ver>.sql files, as well as catalog and catproc sqls.

The c,i, and a files exist with respect to 8.1.5 but the u0801050.sql for some reason does not.

Seeing as how the "u" file only calls these other files, I have created a u file that calls the 815 versions of the other 3.

Will this work?
Is it safe?
Has anybody else done something similar?
Am I just asking for trouble?

Is there a reason why Oracle did not include the u0801050.sql in the 9.2.0.1.0 disribution?

btw ( Solaris 9i, on ultra 5, 1gig ram )

Thanks
Jeff

I think you are asking for trouble. Officially, you can upgrade to 9.2 from 8.1.7 ONLY, and 9.0.1 of coarse.

This not the case for 8.1.5 (your case).

You can go to 9.0.1 then go to 9.2
or
go to 8.1.7 and then go to 9.2

I just upgrade from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7 to be able to go to 9.2 later on in the very near future.
