My database is not opening.
In Sql error message is " oracle initialization or shutdown in progress"
My database is mounting but not opening.

this is a very generic error.
do a clean shutdown and startup again.
if clean shutdown is not possible, use shutdown abort.
(you may require to do some media recovery later).
look into logs for any specific messages.

make sure you are connect "AS SYSDBA" (ex: connect sys/oracle as sysdba). Once you get connected, Select instance_name, status from V$instance; to find out what mode you are in. Then try and get the db open to see why it is not opening.

Do What Mr.Mahesh said..or else incase if some files are missing...u will get that information from the trace Files...so open it and check the information..
