are the rollback segments similar ?
did u try with commit=Y during import ?
is the dump file on the same disk containing the dbf files ?
are the disk I/O charateristics similar ?
Are the stripe size similar ?
are the relevant parameters in SGA similar ? I am guessing the data buffers will matter, etc . etc.

Always a struggle to "benchmark" between different systems with your data and application
and the TPS figures ..... ;-)
Do let us know what all u tried and the results.

- no rbs, --> SMU
- commit=y, on NT and SUN
- dump on same disk, on NT and SUN
- 18GB disks on NT, 36GB disks on SUN
- stripe size was similar on first attempt (16k), now I have 1M on the SUN for better performance on large files (we wanna tune the system for overall-throughput).
- same init.ora on NT and SUN.
- With a bigger buffer on import I reached the same import speed on sun than on NT. But it should be much more.
More performance test tomorrow. :-)
