Dear friends,
Can another user startup the ORACLE8 DATABASE on SCO UNIXWARE 7.0?
What has to be done if other than ORACLE user needs to startup the database...

The 'other' user needs to have the same group(s) as user 'oracle' (groups 'dba' and 'oinstall'). And of course all the right environment ... ORACLE_HOME and so on.

A simple way is to copy your oracle user .profile to the new user account, and, grant dba group to that user.
